One of the most important tasks of childhood is learning how to make friends, keep friends, and be a good friend.

While socialization may come naturally for some children, for many this is not so. Just as academic subjects are taught and reinforced, social skills can be as well. The Long Island Center for Social Skills (LICSS) helps children acquire the necessary skills to become more socially competent, as well as self-confident.

LICSS believes that all children can develop the social competencies that help them become happy, well-adjusted and confident. We provide consultation, evaluation and treatment for the emotional, behavioral and social problems of children and adolescents. Our focus is on enhancing social and emotional development while providing social skill training for those with social disabilities. In addition to social skills groups, LICSS also provides individual, family and group counseling.
